Police in Wabasca have located the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision on May 12. It happened just after 10 in the morning on Hwy. 754 west of town.
According to the initial press release, a white Ford F150 pickup collided with a blue Jeep, causing a fair amount of damage and injuries to the occupants. The pickup left the scene. The release, from Sgt. Mark Polzer, says the occupants of the Jeep were taken to hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries. He put out a request for anyone with knowledge of the truck to contact police.
A few days later, Desmarais RCMP informed The Leader that the truck had been located. Polzer said the driver – a 19-year-old Wabasca resident with no license – is facing various charges. The damage to the Jeep was quite extensive, he said, but less so to the Ford. The report on the crash said the Ford was driving in the passing lane when it happened. The injured parties were transported to Edmonton for treatment.
In other police news out of Wabasca, Polzer said “just overnight” there was an aggravated assault, resulting in another evacuation to hospital in Edmonton.
