Last weekend St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy held its Second Annual Court Battle Classic.

Joe Kirby, Athletic Director for St. Francis, says the school had 15 team teams compete in the volleyball tournament.

In the Senior High portion of the tournament, they had nine teams. He says the teams were EW Pratt Chargers from High Prairie, St. Andrew’s Saints From High Prairie, St. Joseph School Saints from Whitecourt, Swan Hills Grizzlies, Roland Michener Secondary School Rams, Kinuso Knights, Slave Lake Koinonia School Wolves, and the St. Francis of Assisi Falcons.

Kirby says the Kinuso Knights defeated the St Andrew’s Saints in two straight sets to win the (senior) gold medal game and the St Joseph School Saints defeated the EW Pratt Chargers in the bronze medal game.

Kirby says St Francis also hosted six teams competing in the Junior High portion of the tournament at St. Mary of the Lakes school. He says the teams included Prairie River Junior High Raiders, St. Andrew’s Saints, Swan Hills Grizzlies, Kinuso Knights, Slave Lake Koinonia Christian School Wolves, and the St Francis of Assisi Falcons.

Kirby says the Wolves beat the host Falcons in the (junior) gold medal game and the Saints defeated the Knights in the bronze medal game.
