It’s not surprising that there’s some grumbling over the Poplar Lane ‘fiasco’, when the news came out about how much the M.D. has to pay to get this year’s flood damage fixed. The Leader heard from a resident of the area who says he predicted exactly what happened – the newly-paved road getting wrecked by flooding. Fix the flooding issue first – then improve the road, was what he says he recommended at the time. Anything done short of flood mitigation is ‘band-aid’ work and throwing good money after bad.
The M.D., though, has no choice but to fix the road. Meanwhile, attempts to secure funds to do a proper flood mitigation study continue.
