Tradition alive and well

Thanks to volunteers like these, the Terry Fox Run in Slave Lake is doing as well or better than it ever has. Chief organizer Rhonda Willis (right) says around $4,500 was raised this year in the Sept. 17 run, and 19 people showed up to help run it. In its history, the Slave Lake Terry Fox Run has raised over $80,000 for cancer research in Canada. Around 150 people turned out to participate. The run has been held continuously in Slave Lake since 1986. It started in 1983, but wasn’t held in ’84 and ’85.
