Town projects rolling along

Sidewalks, paving, water lines, etc.

Leader staff

Various Town of Slave Lake projects have been moving along . It’s been so long since there was a council meeting we thought we’d check in to see how things are going. The following update is courtesy of project manager Doug Baird:
MRC arenas – New ice plants starting up this week and will begin making ice in Arena 1 this week.
MRC Field House: new air conditioner is 95 per cent complete and will be starting up in a few days.
2017 sidewalk repair program is well underway with the Main Street paving stone re-leveling complete and have started on the list of 60 other sidewalk repair sites around town. See TOSL website for the list of sites. There will be a lot of sidewalk repair activity in all four quadrants of town over the next two to three weeks. Baird asks that drivers respect the work crews and allow them a safe area to work.
The regional water line project is in the materials procurement and detailed schedule development phase.
Water treatment plant leaking roof project is completed with two sections of roof having been replaced.
Main Street North water line replacement project is well into the engineering phase and the town has started hydrovacing test holes to find existing underground lines and valves.
Infrastructure recovery concrete warranty work on 12 St. SE and a few other areas in town is 85 per cent complete with eight driveway sections remaining and these will be complete in two or three weeks.
The 5th St. and 5th Ave. NE road re-paving project is currently out for bid and the work will be done in late August or early September.
The town shop yard salt remediation project is well underway with a lot of groundwater recovery and disposal taking place.
Sewage lagoon upgrade project is in the detailed engineering phase and the Phase 1 construction will start later this fall.

The long overdue fix on the sidewalk by the 7-11.

New compressors for the ice plant in the multi-rec centre.
