It would not have been fun to have been caught in the storm that knocked over these and lots of other trees on July 13 near Hwy. 2 where it crosses the Athabasca River. Whatever it was (a tornado?) was part of a larger storm that passed through the area with heavy rain, hail and lightning and strong wind generally. But judging by the destruction in this and other nearby spots, it was something quite unusual. There were no reports of it, as far as we know, from meteorological services. The only structure in the vicinity was the salt shed and another shed nearby, but they appeared not to have been touched.
