In celebration of Archives Week, the Slave Lake Public Library will be hosting a film night on October 2 at 5:00 p.m. The film features clips from various archives across the province and showcases moving image holdings related to entertaining.

Watch the Flames and Oilers Alumni along with other current and former pros take part in a charity hockey game (Ice Breakers) taking place September 7 at the Mutli-Rec Centre. This years game will feature the most NHL Alumni we have ever had which should make for some entertaining action. current rosters Include:

New provincial standards will increase public safety by making 911 service more consistent across the province.The standards will apply to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), the first people on the line when you call 911. PSAPs are responsible for dispatching calls to the necessary emergency service.

Save the date: Culture Days is only a month away. In one month, Alberta’s biggest celebration of arts, heritage, diversity and community spirit returns. Albertans will come together to celebrate Alberta Culture Days Sept. 28-30. Hundreds of free, family-friendly events will be held across the province, offering art workshops, historical exhibits, delicious food and so much more.

Attention Slave Lake Airport Users the Slave Lake Airport runway and taxiway will be closed to all fixed wing aircraft for a runway overlay beginning September 10 for a duration of approximately two weeks. The local fixed wing air ambulance will be re-located to another base during the closure. Helicopters and STARS air ambulance can still access the airport and fueling station.

The Northern Lights Aquatic Centre will be closed for its annual closure effective August 27.
This closure is expected to last until Monday, October 22, this may change. The Town of Slave Lake advises residents to stay tuned to the Town of Slave Lake Website and Facebook page for future updates.
