The Rotary Club of Slave Lake Public Library is joining in with other libraries across Canada by hosting the TD Summer Reading Club.
Former library manager Lana Gutowski gave The Leader a rundown on the program specs at the June 27th Slave Lake interagency meeting.
“This will be running from June 17th to August 31st,” she said. “Kids will receive a reading log and every 30 minutes of reading receives a prize – the big prize at the end of the program will be a scooter.”
According to the TD Summer Reading Club’s website, it’s the biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids all of ages, all interests and abilities; and it’s a free program offered at 2,000 public libraries across Canada.
Other upcoming summer ‘special’ events for the library, include Mullen the Magician (August 16th at 1:00 p.m.) and finally the End of Summer Nerf War event happening on August 25th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Gutowski added that the library will be showing its Canadian pride by having an interactive Canada 150 table throughout July.
