When it comes to planning and controlling development in a community, there are always going to be winners and losers. As hard as municipal government may try to accommodate every enterprise, lines have to be drawn. And when they are drawn, some well-meaning and fairly harmless proposal is going to end up on the wrong side of the line. It is inevitable. It happens and what almost always comes out of such situations are accusations that the town is ‘anti-business,’ or ‘anti-development.’
This is understandable, but wrong.
As always, the effort is to find some sort of balance that serves the greater good. That is what this is about. It’s big-picture stuff that for many is hard to see or appreciate.
