Multi-Recreation Centre (MRC)

Stacye Bjornsson, with the Slave Lake Multi Recreation Centre, said the MRC is starting up pickleball come November 1. Bjornsson Pickleball will take place on Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Bjornsson said the MRC will also be holding PD day camps for children six to 11 years of age. The camps will be on October 5 and 26, November 23 and December 7. The camps are all-day events and go from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The camp will cost $30 per child.
She said if anyone would like to know more about these activities they can contact the MRC at 780-849-8028 or visit the main desk at the Centre itself.

Rotary Club of Slave Lake Public Library

Suzanne Wilson, with the Rotary Club of Slave Lake Public Library, will be hosting a Halloween haunted house on October 31 at the library from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The library is hosting a youth book club on the last Saturday of the month at 2:00 p.m.

Parent Link

Kellirae Tkach, with Parent Link said Parent Link has a busy month full of activities planned out for Slave Lake’s little ones.
Tkach said evey Monday in October Parent Link will be holding a Leading to Reading program from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Rotary Club of Slave Lake Public Library. Kids can come down and read a story, make crafts and enjoy yummy snacks.
Tkach also said for four sessions in October Healthy Choices for Moms and Babes will be holding baby massages. The sessions will take place on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Join Parent Link at the MRC fieldhouse Tuesday mornings for some family fitness and literacy from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
On October 31, Parent Link will be hosting some special guests. Tkach said the guests will be seniors and elders from the Slave Lake Native Friendship Centre will be coming to host a craft. Parents are encouraged to dress their little ones in costumes.
Also on October 31, there will be a Halloween Potluck and Drop-In at the MRC from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Alberta Health Services

Dalerine Felstad a nurse, with Alberta Health Services (AHS) said AHS is hosting an Alberta Healthy Living program. She said on Wednesday nights there will be a Nutrition, Weight Management and Stress class from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Felstad said on Mondays starting in November, there will be a class for Managing Emotional Eating from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a three-part series and people are encouraged to attend all three classes. She said classes will be held at the Slave Lake Healthcare Centre Conference room.
Last but not least, Starting on Wednesday, November 7 and running until December 19, AHS is hosting a six-week session on nutrition, physical activity and stress in people living with chronic pain. The sessions will be two and a half hours long from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The sessions will take place in the Slave Lake Lakeland Centre room 305 A.
