Sisters in Spirit

The annual Sisters in Spirit Walk took place on Sunday morning in Slave Lake – the first part of an event touching three different communities, including Driftpile and ending in High Prairie. Leading the way in the Slave Lake portion of the walk were Danielle Larivee of the United Nurses of Alberta (carrying the symbolic red dress) and Barb Courtorielle of the Friendship Centre. The walk is meant to bring awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women. The red dress is a symbol of the missing and murdered women.
