A Slave Lake man was in hospital with a gunshot wound last week. His injury was “serious but non-life-threatening,” RCMP Staff Sgt. John Spaans told The Leader the day after it happened.

Police were called at 7:30 a.m. on March 22 to respond to a shooting at a residence in the northwest part of Slave Lake. Spaans said the shooting happened in the course of a break-in. There was an altercation, and one of the occupants of the house was shot “in the lower body.”

Police surrounded a house in the area and ended up taking several people into custody. Spaans told The Leader nobody had been charged yet and the investigation continues.
