Seniors’ Week: pancakes, piano concerts and powwow dancers

The town, various seniors organizations and the Friendship Centre organized events for Seniors’ Week June 3 to 7.

On Monday, there was a pancake breakfast at the Pioneer Drop-in Centre. Followed by a powwow dancing performance at the Friendship Centre.

Tuesday seniors, family and friends watched a Piano Kids concert at Vanderwell Lodge. Susanne Campbell taught the 15 kids who performed.

On Wednesday, there was bingo at the long-term care and strawberry tea and bannock at the Friendship Centre.

Thursday there was a barbecue at Points West and a birthday party at long-term care.

Friday there was happy hour at Vanderwell, with free music and snacks. The Friendship Centre hosted a Walk for Friendship, barbecue, a 50s theme dance, and had a jigging performance.

Walk for Friendship on Friday June 7 kicked of an afternoon of fun for seniors at the Friendship Centre.
The walk started at the Slave Lake town hall and ended at the Friendship Centre. Afterward, people enjoyed a barbecue and 50s theme dance.
