RMS Rams place fifth at high school golfing provincials

The Roland Michener Senior Secondary School golf team traveled to Calgary last week to compete in the A.S.A.A. Provincial competition. The weather actually cooperated enough (they teed-off in plus one and plus two both days) to complete the two-day tournament.

There were 11 teams in their category at this year’s event. The team drove, chipped and putted their way to a 5th place finish – something to be very proud of since it was their first time ever competing on such a large stage. The goal for next year will be to bring home a medal, as the boys definitely have the ‘game’ to accomplish that result.

One hundred-ten boys took part in the 2018 Provincials. The RMSS Rams team shot and placed individually as follows:

Jacob Hartman and Owen Pearson both had a tournament total of 194, placing them tied for 84th overall.

Nick Carpenter finished with a total of 190, putting him in 76th position.

Parker Hay compiled a total of 179, which placed him in 61st overall.

Mr. Hay and Mr. Kennedy would like to thank the sponsors for all their support.

“Without you folks, none of this would be possible!” They also thank the parents, “for sending such great kids to coach and spend our time with. They represented the school, town and community better than anyone could imagine! Congratulations boys on a fun and successful season!”
