Raise the Woof is still looking for donations for live and silent auction items. The deadline is Sept 18, two days before the event.
Raise the Woof is an annual event to raise money for the Animal Rescue Committee of Slave Lake, which started in 2005.
“Animal Rescue Committee is a not-for-profit group of volunteers whose aim is to rescue homeless and abandoned animals in our community and surrounding areas,” says the ARC mission statement. “We wish to provide veterinary treatment to sick or injured animals and temporary foster homes while waiting for responsible permanent homes to be found. We encourage the spay and neuter of animals in order to reduce overpopulation, suffering and disease. We promote responsible pet ownership, humane treatment, compassion and respect for all animals.”
Raise the Woof includes dinner, a live and silent auction, and comedy show. The identity of the three comedians will be a surprise.
The event is held at the Legacy Centre. It starts with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
The meal is provided by the Fix.
The menu is a choice of chicken Parmesan or beef bourguignon, which is a style of French stew.
Sides are oven roasted potatoes, honey dill carrots, and Caesar salad.
Dessert is strawberry shortcake.
There is an cash bar provided by the Elks.
