A 23-year-old Slave Lake male was arrested on April 19 after he assaulted a store clerk. According to an RCMP news release, the suspect had attempted to purchase several items in the Slave Lake store and became angry when it didn’t work.
“When the suspect was unable to provide the proper payment and required identification,” says RCMP Staff Sgt. John Spaans in the release, “he physically assaulted the clerk before fleeing from the store. The clerk suffered lacerations but did not require hospitalization.”
Working off security camera images, police concluded that the same man had committed a theft earlier in the day from a convenience store. They located and arrested him later that afternoon. The news release did not say where the suspect was found, or how he was found.
At the time of the release, charges were pending.
