An online relationship turned out very badly for a 22-year-old Slave Lake man. Last week RCMP reported the man was kidnapped and robbed when he showed up for a meeting with the woman he’d gotten to know over the course of a year on the Internet.
When he got into her car in Ponoka on Sept. 7, says the Sept. 17 news story on canadapolicereport.ca, he was held up by two men. They forced him to withdraw cash from several banks, stole his truck and phone and then dumped him near Blackfalds.
Police have arrested the two men, the story says. In the original report, the woman was still at large. Later in the week, police found and arrested her. They did not name the victim.
Police later found the car abandoned in Red Deer. In it were a shotgun, ammunition, illegal drugs and 61 pieces of stolen identity.
