Obituary – Berg, William George

Enilda/ Slave Lake Pioneer William George Berg passed away on March 10, 2014 at the age of 93 years, Left to mourn his passing and continue his amazing legacy of love of life and laughter, are Ruth, his wife of 71 years, his children Marge Rennick, Karen Graham (Ken), Audrey Parkins (Ed), David Berg (Elaine) and foster son Elvis Glenn; 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. George was predeceased by son Ronald William, grandson Geoffrey William, son-in-law Willis Rennick and infant granddaughter Brandy. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, George settled with his parents in Enilda in 1930, grew up there, and married his childhood sweetheart. He spent 29 years working as telegrapher and station agent for the Northern Alberta Railways, then as a bookkeeper for Bissell Bros Lumber in Enilda. The past six years he and Ruth lived on Martenview Farm in Slave Lake enjoying life to the fullest, working with cattle and sharing his positive outlook and sense of humour with all he met. Interment took place in High Prairie St. Mark’s Cemetery on Mar. 22, and celebration of his life was in Slave Lake on Mar. 23, 2014.
