Ruth Reay, the librarian at the Smith Library, says library programs are being well attended over the summer. Also, thanks to some new funding, the programs and supplies at the library have been enhanced.
“Our library received Indigenous grant funding from the Peace Library System,” says Reay. “This has enabled us to purchase many extras for our library.”
Examples include a ‘Krayon Kiosk,’ with a couple of iPads. Reay says these have been a big hit with the kids.
“I have also purchased a TV/DVD, which will allow me to host after-school movie viewing,” she says. “Other items purchased were a teepee, fold-out chairs, rug, shelving and craft supplies. This is very exciting for our small library.”
Reay goes on to say Story Time over the summer was a hit; the final one was on Thursday, Aug. 24. On Friday, Sept. 1, the library and SHARA hosted children’s entertainer Mary Lambert.
