New nail salon for Slave Lake

Slave Lake community member Rebecca King became certified nail technician.King says she had always wanted to become a nail technician, but there was never a point in her life that she could do it. She explains how she is now at a good point in her life. She can make her own schedules and was able to go back to school.

King says she did her courses in Edmonton and she went back and forth every weekend for two months.

King did one on one training because she was not available to attend classes during the week.

Right now King is currently doing her homeschool study which entails doing 10 new sets of nails and 10 fills. She also has to take photos of all her sets and fill out the corresponding paperwork.

King attended the Institute of Nail Technology. She said she picked that school because after doing research and reading reviews she found it to be the best fit for her.

So far she has been very busy despite there being so many salons in town offering similar services.

“I will also be specializing in nail art in town here they’re aren’t really any techs that focus on nail art so that would be my focus.”

When doing nails King explains how she won’t be using any tips because the glue on tips harbor bacteria and water.

King says she will be sculpting from the base with gel.

All the nail supplies she will be using are made in Edmonton making it 100 per cent Canadian made.

King will be certified on August 12 and be open for business on August 15.

“I will be taking clients seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m..”

Kings studio will be called Nail Bar and will be located in a semi-separate room off the front of her house with a separate door for clients.

King has special pricing until September. A full set will cost $55, and a fill will cost $35.

King will also be taking two more course in the winter months. One being pedicures so she can do toenails come summer 2019. The other course being natural manicures for people who still want beautiful nails but don’t want gel.

If you are interested in an appointment, message King through her Facebook page Nail Bar Slave lake, call (780) 245-NAIL (6245) or email her at nailbarslavelake@gmail.com.

King is already booking appointments into the following weeks. She suggests people book sooner than later.
