John Hunt from Kinuso races motocross and introduced his children to it young. Aiden, eight, started riding dirt bikes when he was four and competing in races when he was five. This year, Savannah, who is seven, joined them.

Many years, the Hunts compete in all of the motocross races, which happen most weekends across Alberta between May long weekend and early September. This year, they only competed in two races. They competed in Whitecourt and Devil’s Lake.

Aiden moved up to the 85 CC class. This class has kids up to 18 in it. He placed in the top 10 in both his races.

Savannah is in the 50 CC class. She placed ninth in the 7 to 8 year class, and 10th in the 50 CC open.

John, who rides a 450 CC, placed fourth in both in the Master and plus 40 category at both races.

The Hunts have a track at their place in Kinuso. Falcon Rentals donates the use of a skid-steer each year to maintain the track. They also have sponsorship from various local businesses. Slave Lake Fountain Tire, Bull Dog Protective Coating, Franklin Parts, and CWC. Local to Kinuso, but not Slave Lake, High Prairie Honda also supports them.

Another sponsor is bring snow-cross to Alberta. It’s the same type of racing just with snowmobiles instead of dirt bikes. Next year, the hope is to compete in a full season of races.
