Slave Lake’s Midget boys’ baseball team played three games in the city on the weekend, winning two of them.
The Heat outlasted the Fort Saskatchewan Red Sox 9 – 7, lost 12 – 4 to the Edmonton Padres and beat the Team Alberta women 8 – 6.
Kyle Campbell got the win in the first game. It was a sloppy affair, with Slave Lake scoring a lot of runs without needing hits to do it.
“Early season rust,” says head coach Kevin Campbell.
In Game 2 nothing went well, says coach Campbell. Pitching, hitting and defense all showed more rust.
In the third game, Uneeb Khan and Hunter Mouallem combined for the win and hitting and fielding was better. Harley Andrews, Parker Hay, Jack Albrecht and Aiden Blocka all hit well.
The Heat next play in St. Albert the weekend after next.
