Leaving aside the question of why anybody would willingly run for 125 kilometres over three mountains, we’ll just report that Todd Bailey of Slave Lake competed in another Canadian Death Race in Grande Cache earlier this month.
According to the results published online, he finished 35th of 69 people registered in his age group, and 157th overall. Bailey finished the course in 23 hours, 22 minutes and a few seconds. That’s comfortably within the 24 hours allowed, but quite a distance back of the superhuman 13 hours 22 minutes turned in by 2018 solo champ Jayden Dalke of Ferintosh, Alta.
Ninety-seven of the solo competitors who started the race did not finish.
Most of the participants were from Alberta, with a sprinkling from across Canada and several from the U.S. and a few from overseas.
