Lesser Slave Lake Regional Arts Council prepares for 2019

The Lesser Slave Lake Regional Arts Council (RAC) has a busy year planned for Slave Lake and area community members.

The RAC is holding its next meeting on December 12 at 7:00 p.m. upstairs in the muti-purpose room above arena 1 at the Multi-Rec Centre (MRC).

Megan McNeil, President of RAC, says they hold monthly meeting the second Wednesday of the month. She encourages anyone who would like to attend the meeting or volunteer to send her an email at megan_mcneil@hotmail.com.

McNeil says RAC is also looking for a committee to plan their 2019 summer art camp.

“Without asking too much it would be nice to have a committee of four or five people.”

The Months event coming up for 2019 include various local artists as well as talent from Edmonton.

Upcoming 2019 events will include:

Wire wrap pendant necklace with Holly Gullion on January 16 at 7:00 p.m. upstairs at the MRC.

Cost is $54 per person and includes three pendants.

In February there will be a drawing workshop with Michelle Sparks.

Also in February is a pour-painting workshop with Carol Maitland for the annual Frost Fest week; dates and times TBA.

On March 2 RAC will be holding a Sculpture workshop with Salvage + Bronze at 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Upstairs at the MRC.

In April RAC will be hosting a Pysanka Easter egg workshop with Alexis Mitchell, a school teacher at St. Francis Catholic Academy. There will be two events; one for kids and one for adults.

On May 4 there will be a watercolour painting workshop with Ella Doo, upstairs at the MRC at 1:00 p.m. Cost will be $50 for the workshop or $70 for the workshop and extra supplies.
