Leadercast Women ‘excellent professional development’

Community Futures Lesser Slave Lake Region, with the assistance of the Slave Lake & District Chamber of Commerce, hosted the 2018 Leadercast Women conference at the Legacy Centre on November 1.

According to organizer Robin-Lee Vance, from Community Futures, “The Leadercast Women Conference is an excellent professional development event. We were pleased to bring this calibre and quantity of speakers to women in the Lesser Slave Lake Region.”

During the conference, nine top female leadership experts taught over 60 attendees how to better lead themselves. These speakers included:

Barbara Bush – Co-Founder and Board Chair, Global Health Corps

Jenna Bush Hager – Founding Chair, UNICEF Next Generation and correspondent for the Today Show

Clemantine Wamariya – Storyteller and human rights activist

Molly Fletcher – CEO, keynote speaker, author and former sports agent

Celeste Headlee – Award-winning journalist, professional speaker and author

Julia Landauer – Champion NASCAR driver and motivational speaker

Ritu Bhasin – Speaker, author and President, Bhasin Consulting Inc.

Jess Ekstrom – Speaker and CEO, Headbands of Hope

Marilyn Tam – Consultant, author and former executive at Nike, Aveda and Reebok

Frankie Giroux from Nash Giroux LLP was the local Master of Ceremonies for this conference.

In addition to the Leadercast Women broadcast event, a Women in Business Showcase featuring booths of women-owned or women-led businesses was located in the Legacy Centre Atrium.

At the end of the conference, one attendee said, “Thank you very much! The conference was really awesome and informative. Nice to see these kinds of things brought here to inform women about being leaders.”

Vance says Community Futures will consider hosting another Leadercast Women conference in 2019.
