orking together when your views of certain things are so opposed. Take the corporate tax cuts in the Kenney government’s budget. The government says these are essential to getting back investment by businesses in Alberta. Investment brings jobs, more taxes being paid, etc. and everyone benefits. To the NDP opposition, the tax cuts are characterized as “A $4.7 billion, no-jobs corporate hand-out.”

De-indexing seniors’ pensions is seen by the government as part of a difficult, but essential process of budget-balancing. To the Opposition, this is a direct hit on the pocketbooks of those least able to afford it, at the same time rich corporations are paying less.
