Go Oilers go (we can always dream)

COVID has caused a lot of things to go sideways. Some were predictable and some not at all. Apparently the red hot lumber market right now has COVID to thank, at least partly. Nobody saw that coming.

And how about the NHL pandemic playoffs? Is there any reason to think the top teams in a regular season that ended five months ago are still the favourites? Is there any reason to think some underdog won’t emerge as a giant killer? The Edmonton Oilers, for example?

Then again, what happens if one team gets struck down by an outbreak of COVID halfway through the playoff season? The whole thing might have to be shut down. What might also happen is a team nobody expected will end up with the Stanley Cup. We don’t know what will happen, and that’s why we watch it. Why not the Oilers?
