On June 4th, 2020 a peace officer conducting speed enforcement on Highway 88 near the train tracks observed a black SUV traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. The officer activated his radar device and found the vehicle travelling at 111 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. The operator was subsequently charged for operating a motor vehicle at 50 km over the posted speed limit and was fined $495.
As the Slave Lake region enters its road construction season as part of the Alberta Traffic Safety Calendar, it is critical to obey posted speed limits.
On June 2nd, 2020 a peace officer conducting a routine perimeter check of the Multi-Rec Centre noticed a suspicious female walking around the curling rink. The officer recognized her from an attempted break and enter a few years prior. A warrant check on the individual showed she had Criminal Code warrants for her arrest out of the Hinton Detachment. She was turned over to the Slave Lake RCMP.
