Disaster was narrowly averted last Thursday by town crews. According to town manager Brian Vance, overflowing and flooding of the sanitary sewer lift stations was close to happening.
“If this had happened we would have lost sewage removal ability for sections of Town or in the case of the Sawridge Lift station, the whole town. Possibly for days. This would have resulted in many basements flooding with sewer and people not being able to use drains and toilets. Utility crews, operating crews, and contractors worked hard throughout the night with pumps and vacuum trucks to avoid disaster. The fire department provided invaluable assistance.” with traffic control, enabling trucks to minimize travel time.
Thank you everyone involved for a successful outcome to what otherwise would have been a disaster.
