As reported earlier, Men’s Night at Gilwood Golf Club this year is trying some new things to make it more competitive and fun and it seems to be working. According to our Men’s Night correspondent Kelly Pearson, 72 guys turned out on Tuesday, June 5.
“That’s probably the most we’ve had in about three years,” he says.
For the second week in a row, the name of James St. Martin pops up among the winners. He had the fourth low net score at 32- the same score as Steven Matthews. Second low net was claimed by Darren Bellerose, taking some time off from calf-roping for a bit of golf. He and Brayden Stasow both ended up at 31.
Winning the low gross category was Jorgen Drewniak, with a 34.
Matthews and Bellerose were also money winners in the ‘Deuce Pot,’ along with Doug Albers.
Men’s Night on June 12 features a two- man, 18-hole scramble. Pearson reminds players they need a valid handicap to participate in net prizes. In case anybody reads this before 5:00 p.m. on that day, there’s still time to get out there for the shotgun start at that hour.
“Come out and enjoy the evening,” says Pearson.
Adding to the fun this year is a league component, with two-man teams accumulating points through the season. Pearson says teams need to have to register by Tuesday at noon at the pro shop.
Men’s Night results were also submitted for the previous week’s event (May 27), but didn’t make it into the paper. So… better late than never, here they are, as reported by Pearson:
