Big ball hockey tournament shaping up

The Reed Churchill Memorial Ball Hockey Tournament – as previously reported – goes July 6 and 7 in Slave Lake. As of June 10, there was good response in several age groups, but lots of room for more teams in others.

However, says chief organizer Mike Martin, “so far, everything will go as advertised.”

As advertised, it goes in the MRC parking lot, starting at 9:00 a.m. both the Saturday and Sunday.

Likely one of the teams looking forward to the tournament is the ‘Puck Monkeys,’ a foursome that played in an Edmonton tournament earlier this month and won all six of its games.

Martin said last week that “We have good numbers in the U9, U11 and U15 divisions, but we can still take on a couple more teams there. (We) need lots of teams for the U7, U13 and U17.”

There are two ways to get in touch: one is via the tournament Facebook page and the other is by email, at
