Dr. Murray Gingras speaking on August 26
It’s been a busy summer over at the Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation (BCBC), says executive director Patti Campsall.
“The Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation is getting lots of summer visitors from all over the world this month!” she says. “The centre will be open seven days a week through the September long weekend.”
Aside from welcoming visitors, Campsall says community members are able to take lab tours at the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory (LSLBO).
“We are in the middle of fall migration, so if you want to enjoy these songbirds on their way south, you can check out the public banding lab tours at the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory,” she says. “Just drop in anytime between 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. every Wednesday and Saturday morning until the end of August. The LSLBO is located on the Lily Creek group use road in Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park. Call the Boreal Centre at 780-849-8240 for more information.”
Campsall says the BCBC is bringing in Dr. Murray Gingras for a geology program later this month.
“It will start off with a presentation at the centre. Then participants will head out on a hike along the shoreline to learn about the different rocks and minerals,” says Campsall.
