Arrests in Kinuso gun theft

A store in Kinuso was hit by a gang of thieves early last week. On Friday, RCMP announced they had made a pair of arrests in the case.

According to Faust RCMP, about 5:00 a.m. on Nov. 6, a truck pulled up to the Kinuso Mercantile. Security camera video shows four people getting out of the vehicle and then smashing the glass entrance doors.

Once inside, two males and two females, wearing gloves and masks, removed around 40 firearms consisting of various shotguns and rifles. The suspects departed in under five minutes with the firearms in addition to electronics and clothing.

Faust RCMP sent out surveillance photos of the suspects and vehicle last week. They asked anyone with information about this incident to call them at 780-355-3609.

On Friday, Nov. 9, RCMP reported they’d arrested two people in Barrhead on the same day as the theft. Acting on a tip, they found a stolen vehicle at a residence, with six long guns and ammunition in it.

The two suspects in the house at first refused to give themselves up, but were persuaded to do so on the arrival of additional forces, including dogs. A male and female face a variety of charges.

The other two suspects remained at large as of press time.
