All the best to the new MLA

Our new Member of the Legislative Assembly gets sworn in soon and starts a job and lifestyle that are completely new. Taking on a role as a full-time public servant is quite the role change after a career in business. We wish him well. It won’t be a bed of roses and Mr. Rehn will find himself needing to strike some sort of difficult balance between demands that seem to be in conflict with each other. Good luck with all that.

The basic goal for these folks, as stated over and over during the election campaign, is to improve the economy. Government can only do so much in that regard, but it can do something. And a robust economy is a worthy goal – it doesn’t solve all the problems (indeed it can create or aggravate some), but it does make a lot of other things easier to deal with.
