AB organ registry expands

In 2010, Slave Laker Milton Becker’s life was saved by a Welsh man who donated stem cells.

On July 13, 2020, the Alberta government announced that residents of the Northwest Territories can now join the Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Registry. Many come to Alberta hospitals when they need critical care, but in the past couldn’t be part of the Alberta donation registry.

About 600 people in Alberta are currently awaiting a transplant.

One organ and tissue donor can save up to eight lives and make life better for up to 75 other people.
