UCP to choose candidate on Nov. 24

Joe McWilliams
Lakeside Leader

The UCP LSLCA, otherwise known as the United Conservative Party Lesser Slave Lake Constituency Association, has set a few important dates. One is Oct. 19 and another is Nov. 24. In between are Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.

According to constituency association communications guy Paul George, Oct. 19 is the deadline for an application request for candidacy. Oct. 25 is the deadline for submission of applications. Nov. 1 is the last day party memberships can be purchased. And finally, the actual voting for the UCP LSL candidate is Saturday, Nov. 24.

As for who might be in the race, it could be the four already mentioned; it could be some of them but not all of them. It could be all of them or some of them plus others.

“I have actually been told there might be three more,” says George. “Two from HP and possibly one from the back lakes. I guess we will know by the (25th).”

There will be polling stations in Slave Lake and High Prairie, George says, and “hopefully one in Wabasca.”
