A fire broke out in a couple of oilfield tanks on the Wabasca highway on the night of Nov. 20. The Lesser Slave Regional Fire Service responded and working with people from the company put down the flames. Fire chief Jamie Coutts says the training in that sort of activity helped out a lot, and the fire was contained to the two structures. About 4,000 gallons of water and 20 pails of foam were used in the suppression effort. Coutts says the oilfield people were very good to work with (and didn’t want to be named). From the department, three trucks and 14 people responded.
