The event out on the lake called ‘Outlaw Sled Drag Races’ is back for its 2019 edition. Or will be, on Saturday, March 16.
This information we got from a promotional package that’s making the rounds. What it amounts to is a day of drag racing on a prepared track on the lake off Big Fish Bay – which if you aren’t familiar with it is just on the west of Slave Lake.
The organizer of the event is again the group calling itself ‘Slave Lake Snow and Mud Association.’ Its business – among other things – has to do with motorized, off-road recreation in the Slave Lake area; snowmobiles in the winter and quads and such in the summer. This is its big winter event and has been going on for several years now.
Registration for the day of sled drags is from 9:00 a.m., with racing to start at 11:00 a.m. The entry fee is $100 per class and spectators are charged $10 per vehicle.
Also on the itinerary are helicopter tours, at the rate of $75 for 12 minutes.
There’s lots more information – rules and so on – and we’ll let you find it online at slsnowmud.com, or by calling Dan at 780-805-4965 or JD at 780-805-2455.
