RMS athletes to provincials

Two Roland Michener School athletes will take part in the provincial high school track & field championships in Calgary this week. Kenya Ross competes in the 3,000, 1,500 and 400-metre races. Huereka Aragon competes in the javelin.

The two students qualified at a zone tournament in Edmonton on May 21, following good results at the divisionals in High Prairie. Ross finished second in Edmonton in all three of his races. Aragon improved her best toss from the divisional meet throw by a whopping nine metres, which placed her third. Only the top two qualify for provincials, says RMS track coach Deanna Sloan, but the second-place girl (Preslee Wild of Kinuso) gave up her spot, so Aragon is in.
