Renewable energy training starts next week at Northern Lakes College

‘World class’ renewable energy instructor Eric Smiley is coming to Northern Lakes College, live online, next Tuesday and Thursday. That’s Sept. 12 and 14 on your calendars. It’s the kick-off event of what NLC plans to be a season full of courses on renewables. It’s something new for the college.
“It’s a big feature for us having him here,” says NLC Electrical Instructor Martin Engler. “Opening this door for us.”
The session goes from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and is entitled ‘Introduction to Renewable Energy Sources.’ It will look primarily at electric and thermal renewables.
Coming up on Sept. 18 is a five-day course for electricians wishing to become CSA certified to install solar power systems.
“It’s ‘face-to-face,’ says Engler – and also with Eric Smiley.
That’s just the beginning of many of what Engler calls “exciting courses coming up.” According to promotional material from the college, they include one on grid tie-in installation, battery-based installation, designing solar power systems and code for renewables – not to mention a Master Electrician course.
To register for any of these, or to find out more, call the number at NLC is 780-849-8623, or work@northernlakescollege.ca. Registering online is at www.northernlakescollege.ca.
