Red Earth Creek RCMP have charged a 36-year-old man in a hit and run death that happened on Oct. 29, after a short investigation.
The incident happened at approximately 12:50 a.m. near Peerless Lake on Hwy. 686. The victim, a 25-year-old man from Peerless Lake, died on scene. The vehicle involved in this collision was not at the scene when police arrived. Police put out a call that day for information on the incident; it must have paid off, because less than 24 hours later came the follow-up release with the news of charges.
The accused is also from Peerless Lake. He was to make his first appearance on Nov. 1 in Slave Lake Provincial Court, charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to remain at the scene of an accident where death was caused and driving while disqualified.
