RCMP urge school bus safety

Submitted

RCMP in Slave Lake are reminding drivers about school bus safety.
Recently an increase in the number of passing violations has caused concern. Drivers need to be reminded that passing a school bus with the red lights activated is not only extremely unsafe, but will result in a hefty fine.
Under the Traffic Safety Act Rules of the Road Regulation, the fine for passing a school bus with alternately flashing red lamps is $465. This applies anytime a driver sees the red lights flashing.
A number of such violations have been reported in and around school areas recently, as well as residential streets.
