Another charged in non-fatal stabbing
A 25-year-old Peerless Lake man is dead and a male suspect is in custody and facing murder charges after a June 25 incident.
According to a June 27 release, from the RCMP, police received a call on that date about an injured man at a residence in Peerless Lake. When they arrived they found the man, who was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
A day later, the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton confirmed the death as a homicide. The term ‘homicide’ suggests an intention to kill.
Police did not name the victim or the suspect, but promised further updates.
Police did not say in another news release on June 27 whether a non-fatal stabbing in Peerless Lake was related or not. What they did say was the call came 45 minutes after the one for the above incident, also in Peerless Lake, also on June 25. What they found was a 22-year-old male suffering from a stab wound in “an altercation.” He was taken to hospital, treated and released.
Police have charged an 18-year-old Peerless Lake male with aggravated assault. He was in custody pending a bail hearing.
“We’re not in a position to say if they are related,” said Cpl. Chris Warren last week. “They’re both still under investigation.”
