Rhonda Willis is stepping down as chief organizer for the Slave Lake Terry Fox Run. According to information received last week from the Terry Fox Foundation, Willis has been doing the job for the past seven years.
“I’m really proud Slave Lake has been holding the run almost every year since 1981,” Willis says. “I’d hate to see that end. And the Foundation makes it very easy.”
The run is scheduled to take place on September 15, 2019 and needs a new leader. Over the history of the run, says the Terry Fox organization, Slave Lake has raised over $84,000 for cancer research.
“The Foundation values the support from Slave Lake residents and wants the Terry Fox Run tradition to continue,” says TFF rep Christie Krawchuk in an email to The Leader.
