Thompson Landing apartment residents were in for a surprise last weekend when the building had to be evacuated after a fire broke out on the second floor.
We hear from sources that the incident is under investigation; however firefighters do know the fire was intentionally lit and the person of interest is under 12 years of age. Witnesses have said that there were three fire trucks on site with police cruisers and ambulances.
Luckily the alarm and sprinkler system worked as expected and no one was hurt during the ordeal. Sources say that the fire started on the second floor and smoke was visible throughout third and fourth floor. This is the fourth incident at the building involving local emergency services and the Lesser Slave Fire Department in the past few months. Most recently there was bear spray dislodged in the building’s vents along with a small kitchen fire and fire extinguishers being sprayed in the hallways.
