The Lesser Slave Lake Regional Fire Service responded to a variety of calls over Christmas, including a Christmas Day rollover on Hwy. 2 near the turnoff to Smith. Fire chief Jamie Coutts says although it looks bad, both occupants of the car walked away from it.
Another incident over the holidays requiring fire department action was the release (accidental or otherwise) of bear spray in a four-plex in Slave Lake. The units had to be evacuated while the fire crew cleared the offending material out of the air system with a big blower. Although it was a busy week or so, Coutts says luckily there were no injuries or bad fires. This was as of Dec. 27.
