Yes, it really is that time of year again, when two or three days of warm, dry weather can push the fire hazard into the ‘high’ range. When every spark from every ATV muffler, every cigarette tossed carelessly out of a car window, every improperly extinguished campfire can turn into a deadly wildfire. District Wildfire Information Officer Leah Lovequist reported last week that the hazard was up to ‘high’ as of May 4, and that personnel and equipment were being distributed through the district to respond to the threat. Meanwhile, hazard-reduction burning continued.
