Folk rock trio Elliott Brood opens Stage North season

Submitted

The first Stage North show of the season features Elliott Brood, a dynamic Canadian roots rock band from Hamilton, coming to the Legacy Centre Thursday September 27 at 7:30.

Hamilton’s Elliott Brood has been making a name for itself for the past 15 years, with six albums and a Juno for Roots/Traditional Group of the Year to their credit. Banjos and mandolins and foot stomping tunes make you think bluegrass. Steely acoustic guitar provides a gritty, rocky sound while the lyrics are more in the alt-country folk-rock vein. Whatever it is, it’s at times lively and fun, while at others, mellow and melodic. The tunes are catchy and the lyrics are memorable. They put on a fun and lively performance and there will definitely be a dance floor set up!

Richard Woodman and Will O’Donnell will open for the band. There will be snacks and bar service but no full meal service at this show.

Stage North would like to thank our corporate sponsors for our shows – Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Whitecap Motors, Double B, Edge Construction, Nash Giroux, Boston Pizza and the Lakeside Leader. If your organization would like to sponsor a show, or even provide a little something for a door prize, contact any committee member.

Tickets are $35 advance, $40 at the door, five dollars less for students and seniors 60 plus. You can pick up your tickets at REMAX, the Rotary Library, the Source, the MRC and online at stagenorth.org. Or just buy a season ticket. You’ll get five shows for the price of four!
