To the Editor:
Members of the Fourth Estate:
Migrating across borders, according to the negotiated Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, is a right.
Most recently Australia has declared it shall not sign. This decision follows those of United States, Israel and other nations to maintain their sovereign control over immigration.
In the accompanying news release Member of European Parliament Marcel de Graaff warns why the United Nations global compact on migration ought not to be signed.
Few Canadians are aware of the Compact, let alone the impact on nations signing on to it.
Hopefully the media will play its role of informing our citizenry of questionable directions in process without their knowledge.
