One person has died following a two vehicle collision north of Slave Lake.
According to a release from Slave Lake RCMP, the collision took place on Friday, Nov. 2 at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Highway 88, 40 kilometres north of town.
A northbound pickup truck and a southbound semi tractor trailer collided head-on. A female passenger in the pickup was pronounced dead on scene, while the male driver was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the larger truck was not injured. The highway was reduced to one lane while crews worked to clear the scene.
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have been a factor, police say. At the time of the incident there were reports of slush on the roadway and light snowfall. Investigators are attempting to determine the cause of this collision.
The age, hometown and identify of the deceased will not be released, pending notification of family.
